| Slipping and Shipping |
Usually, we stack the post bags outside the stock room ready for collection or dropping off at the sorting office depending on the time of day. The doorway is covered over so they're quite dry and they're never there for long.
Today there were so many parcels that we had more bags than usual and were rushing to get them outside in time – which is why it took us a long time to notice that the temperature outside had dropped.
The light drizzle that had left the driveway damp that morning had turned into an ice-rink and the bags were slowly sliding down the wall and making their way downhill! How were we going to stop them without landing upside down and sliding after them?
In the end – sliding down to the end of the drive was the easiest way to get them into the van which couldn't get up the road to us! One of us at the bottom of the hill catching and one at the top sliding bags in a slightly more controlled way!
Who said grown-ups had to be grown up (and yes all the parcels were undamaged and sent on time).
